Blast to Families & Learners

I wish everyone a Happy New Year. When learners return to school on January 4, 2023, learners will engage in STAR and Keystone testing. Please take a look at the important information below. School of the Future opens its doors to learners daily at 7 AM. Class starts at 7:30 AM.

COVID Procedures

Each learner has received (2) COVID tests to prepare for the return from winter break.
Learners should test on the evening of January 3rd or the morning of January 4th before returning to school.
If your learner tests positive, please email Nurse Kelly Boylan ( kboylan@philasd.org) with their name, grade, and date of a positive test.
Learners who have tested positive should remain home for five days; if symptoms resolve, learners can return after five days but must wear a mask for five days.

All learners must wear masks from January 4-13, 2023.
We will have masks available; if your learner like a particular color or type of mask, they are encouraged to wear those.

Chromebooks

It’s required that learners bring their Chromebooks each day; Chromebooks should be charged, and learners should bring their chargers each day.
Learners who do not bring their Chromebooks will be required to stay for detention.
Learners who fail to stay for detention must have an in-person parent conference the next school day.
If there is a problem with your Chromebook or charger, please tell your teacher.

Cell Phones and Yondr Pouches

Our handbook states that learners must place all cell phones and electronic devices (which include apple watches and air pods)  in their Yondr pouch every day upon entry into School of the Future.

Please check with your learner that they have their Yondr pouch and are using it daily.
If learners have broken or lost their Yondr pouch, they will be required to replace it.
Replacement Yondr pouches are $30; they can be purchased on the SOF website or in the main office (cash only).
