Dear Firebird Nation,

Welcome to the 2022 – 2023 school year. I am thrilled to welcome our learners and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year.

Our incredible School of the Future (SOF) staff have been in school throughout the summer to prepare classrooms for the new school year. We are excited to welcome many new staff members to the Firebird family. Therefore, we recognize that learners may feel anxious with the start of a new school year. Consequently, we will continue emphasizing social-emotional learning while building a school community through the advisory model.

School of the Future is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for every learner. The School of the Future’s Vision is (F.I.R.E.) Focus, Innovation, Resilience, and Evolution by understanding and imploring FIRE learners will be ready to compete for tomorrow’s 21st century job opportunities. We will continue to provide a rigorous and inclusive school environment. Our overarching goal is to encourage active learning engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.

Additionally, partnering with families will be crucial this year. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our school website and checking your email for important updates and information regarding events throughout the school year. We will also be incorporating the parent academy in which parents and legal guardians will have the opportunity to understand what your learner is learning. We will offer various Parent Academy programs throughout the year, such as how to use a computer and check your learner’s grades daily.

I also would love for all learners, parents, and caregivers to attend one of the SOF orientations to inform you about the expectations and new instructional programs and school expectations for the 2022-2023 school year. Uniform shirts will be sold during orientation nights. However, learners will be able to wear gray polos, black polos, red polos, and anything with School of the Future on it.
